Raw Meow Mix makes feeding balanced raw so simple. All you need is some water and some plain, raw muscle meat. This doesn’t mean it need be boring. Cats needs lots of variety in their food, just like we do. Each protein, in fact each different cut of each protein, has different nutritional profiles. Don’t get stuck in the habit of feeding the same meat, at every meal, every day or you will be doing your cat a terrible dis-service.
Just like we’d get bored eating the same thing over and over, so would your cat. But, you say, your cat loves chicken breast, so why feed him anything else? Well here’s why:
Optimum nutrition – as mentioned all proteins and, all the cuts of each protein, have different nutrients Harder working muscle will be full of taurine, lighter meat like breast will be lighter in calories and fat content than dark meat and so on. Feeding a wide range of cuts and proteins will ensure you get a good balance of everything
Decrease the risk of developing food allergies or intolerance – eating the same meat day in and day out will very likely create the perfect environment for an allergy to form. Too much of a good thing is still too much. Avoid this by feeding variety and rotating often
Prevent boredom – imagine eating a ham sandwich every day for every meal for the rest of your life. It’s enough to make you crazy right? Well why do it to your cat? Boredom is a very real risk if feeding the same food all the time, and this can lead to behavioural issues, unwillingness to eat, and fussiness.
Feeding a wide variety of meats will stave off all of these issues, keep your cat interested in meal times, prevent them becoming fussy and hard to please, and ensure that they will eat whatever you put in front of them. Whether you feed single protein meals or mix it up at each meal, is completely up to you. The important thing is to have at least 3 different proteins in rotation, more is better. As they say, variety truly is the spice of life
