What is Raw Meow Mix Low?

Raw Meow Mix Low is a meal completer designed specifically for cats requiring a low phosphorus, low sodium diet

Raw Meow provides the tools to help you feed a complete, balanced raw diet to your cats. Raw Meow Mix Low has been created together with Australia's leading animal nutritionist, to ensure it meets AAFCO standards and works as a meal completer with a wide range of muscle meat proteins.

Raw Meow Low Mix is a low protein, low phosphorus, low sodium option. Raw Meow Mix Low also contains pumpkin for beta carotene, spinach and wheatgrass for chlorophyll, vitamin E as an added antioxidant, psyllium husk to boost dietary fibre and assist normal bowel movements and curcumin for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Raw Meow Mix Low makes feeding your cat a balanced raw diet so simple and takes all the hard work out for you. At Raw Meow we believe that cats with impaired kidney function require a species appropriate, high moisture, low phosphorus raw diet. We have seen that limiting protein for these cats results in muscle wastage and weight loss as well as very unhappy cats. Keeping the phosphorus levels low and the protein levels higher than what we see in other commercial options, can be a great option. Please do your research and due diligence when deciding to try a raw diet for your “health compromised” cat. We are not vets and the information here is not meant to diagnose or treat any medical condition.

Raw Meow Mix Low is a powder that contains secreting organ, bone content, egg yolk and omega 3, plus all the vitamins and minerals required for a balanced raw diet. All you need to do is provide the plain muscle meat.

Using Raw Meow Mix Low is easy. Just mix the powder, in the required ratio, to the muscle meat you are prepping, (see our calculator here) with water or bone broth, into a sauce like consistency, then add to the muscle meat you have either diced or minced.

You can do this at each meal time, or create larger batches that you can prep, portion, then freeze, for easy defrosting in the fridge. See detailed info here

It’s that simple. You can make the sauce thicker or thinner by adjusting the amount of fluid added. The texture and mixture of proteins used is completely up to you. This allows you so much freedom to tailor the diet to your cats preferences and to your own budget.

When feeding a cat with low phosphorus requirements, the protein you use is important, as is the fat level of the meals you feed

Low Mix is a lower phosphorus meal completer, but to get the best out of this you should add it to a lower phosphorus, higher fat meat. Healthy cats require about 10% fat in their diet (30% DMB) and cats with kidney issues need at least that much, sometimes more. Be careful though when increasing fat intake, as this may also lead to softer stools.

Our recommendation is to make the base of your meals with Low Mix using chicken thigh with skin on. Chicken thigh is the lowest phosphorus protein. It is advisable to feed using this protein to keep the levels as low as possible. If your cat is not a fan of chicken, you could try a small amount of another protein into the mix to assist with taste.

Roo is one of the highest in phosphorus as well as the lowest in fat so it is a protein we recommend you do not use, or at least use only very sparingly, with Low Mix

RMM Low Mix plus chicken thigh (which is the lowest phosphorus muscle meat) will give you a phosphorus level of approx. 0.6% DMB

Raw Meow Mix balances boneless muscle meat. Do not add any secreting organ or bone. Raw Meow Mix is not a "vitamin” supplement and must NOT be added to foods that are already balanced and complete.

The average adult cat requires 2 - 4% of their body weight daily – please note that how much food a cat needs daily is dependent on age, size, activity level, and health

Raw Meow Mix Low creates a very low phosphorus diet and is not suitable for healthy cats or kittens.
